This is a Nanite/Lumen relight of the Hivemind Modular Cave scene with some minor set dressing adjustments that I completed during a Lighting Art Bootcamp at Vertex School. I plan to return later for a final polishing pass and a real-time video walkthrough.
For this project, I wanted to keep the lighting simple but purposeful. My goal was to create an atmosphere that felt ancient, mystical, and slightly oppressive, while still encouraging exploration.
I imagined this area as a space in gameplay where the danger is low but exploration is rewarded, allowing players to absorb the environment and atmosphere.
To support this feeling, I relied heavily on volumetric fog as a primary lighting component and intentionally kept the overall number of lights limited. This approach helps maintain the mood while also supporting better in-game performance.
